The Central Indiana Chapter has over 500 Chapter Members and On-line community affiliates. The chapter holds monthly technical meetings from September to June that are open to anyone. 2009 Future Safety Leaders Conference Coming to Indianapolis

Mark your calendars: The 2009 Future Safety Leaders Conference will be held November 12 – 13 at the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis!

Space for the 2009 FSLC will be limited and priority for registration will be given to students who have been ASSE members for over six months. Apply for your student membership using this online PDF and make sure you’re covered!

2009 Indiana Safety and Health Conference and Expo: A Great Success

Thank you to all chapter members and non-members who attended the 2009 Indiana Safety and Health Conference and Expo in Indianapolis during the week of February 23rd. Judging by the evaluation forms I have reviewed, it was a top notch safety instructional event the conference organizing committee had hope it would be. Over 500 delegates attended, more than 60 presenters were featured and over 70 vendors exhibited.

As the chapter begins it’s planning for the 2010 conference, chapter members are encouraged to let us know what topic areas they would like us to offer; what presentation subjects or titles they would like us to offer; what speakers they would like us to bring in; and what workshops they would like us to provide. Indiana Governor's Workplace Safety Awards Winners

Twelve Hoosier companies were recognized with the 2009 Governor's Workplace Safety Awards for advancing occupational safety and health. Indiana Commissioner of Labor Lori A. Torres, on behalf of Governor Mitch Daniels, presented the honors during a luncheon ceremony at the Central Indiana Chapter of American Society of Safety Engineers and Indiana Chamber of Commerce's annual Safety and Health Conference & Expo in Indianapolis.

This year, awards were handed out to construction and manufacturing industries, in four categories (education and outreach, innovation, partnerships and overall excellence) and by size of company (small, medium and large). The 2009 winning companies are:
